Renting Cars
Alamo, Enterprise,
Budget, Hertz, National, Avis...and the list goes on. Who is the
best and where can you get the best price? There are many answers
to this question, but getting a good rental car deal IS
possible.
For those who might be
unaware, some companies only allow intrastate travel (travel
within the boundaries of a state). A cross-country trip (or even
one out of the US to Mexico or Canada), means you need to check with the
rental company to see if it's allowed in their policy. Another
area worth ch ecking
on before completing the reservation is to check on mileage
options. If you are driving long distances, don't get stuck in a
rental with limited mileage - it will be a nightmare. A lot of the
name brand companies offer unlimited mileage, which is definitely the
way to go.
For the non-smoker, being
around cigarette smoke can be a pain - literally. Fortunately for
you, in today's world there are non-smoking options even in rental
cars. Simply request (and follow-up with a phone if it's
very important) a non-smoking vehicle.
When renting a car, it's
very important - especially with gas prices the way they are now - to
remember to FILL UP the tank (or at least where it was when you initial
received it) or you could pay a stiff price for the rental company to
fill it up for you. It's usually at an inflated rate, even higher
than that of today's high fuel prices.
Coupons
Do you have neighbor children who knock on your door trying to sell the
latest discount book? If so, you might want to take a moment to
look in the book
because many times there are great coupons lurking inside.
Depending on your rental car needs, you can get great deals for either
short or long-term travel.
If you don't have a
coupon book handy, you can still find tremendous prices by doing some
research on the internet. Check with your credit card
company (Visa, MC, Discover, AMEX), many times they have special savings
for their valued customers.
If all else fails,
simply do a search for cheap rental cars!
